About Department
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (CSE – AI & ML) , also offers the programmes like B.Tech. in CSE(Data Science) which was established in the year 2022 with an intake of 60. Over the years, (CSE – AI & ML) has grown by leaps and the current intake is 120.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) are revolutionizing computer science and data processing, making a significant impact across various industries. AI involves creating computer systems that simulate human intelligence, enabling them to perform tasks typically requiring human cognition.
Machine Learning, a subset of AI, empowers computers to improve their performance and adapt by learning from data. As businesses and organizations embrace digital transformation, they are inundated with vast amounts of data that are both incredibly valuable and challenging to manage. To effectively handle this data, organizations need innovative tools and techniques to collect, process, analyze, and leverage insights for informed decision-making.
Data science is an interdisciplinary field that uses scientific methods, processes, algorithms, and systems to extract knowledge and insights from structured and unstructured data. It combines elements from statistics, computer science, mathematics, and domain expertise to analyze and interpret complex data.
The Department faculty strength is 33 who are highly qualified and experienced in specialization of different domain knowledge. The specializations are Network Security, Data Mining, Web Mining, Cloud Computing, Big Data Analytics, Image Processing, Ad hoc Networks and Software Engineering and Testing.
The department is equipped with 4 computer labs with Hi- End servers and 300 operational nodes of HP & HCL which are designed with structured cabling in tune with the cyber age revolution to support the teaching activities. The centre provides internet connectivity through broadband at 300Mbps. A slew of latest software and packages to equip the students to meet the challenges in the vibrant and constantly changing field is one of the advantages of this department.
