From the Director's Desk

Prof. S. V. Suryanarayana, Phd, a senior Professor (Retd) of Osmania University, Hyderabad, a distinguished teacher, an acclaimed researcher of International reputation, an academic administrator of versatility, is the Academic Director of Swarna Bharathi Institute of Science & Technology (SBIT), Khammam.

He made a significant contribution in Materials Science research. He has handled a number of research projects, particularly Defence oriented projects; guided 20 PhD students and published 200 papers both in National and International journals of repute. He has travelled widely, delivered invited lectures at various Universities in different countries.

As Director, District PG Centres of Osmania University, he was responsible for several innovative  reforms and thus the District Centres of O.U. were brought on to National Scene. As the Head, Dept. of Physics and Chairman Board of Studies in Physics,he significantly contributed for promoting quality and excellence in PG Education and research. He was Co-ordinator of UGC-SAP in Physics and he also worked as Director USIC of Osmania University. He was a senior consultant of Andhra Pradesh Research Board of APSCHE during 2003-‘04.

He was recipient of MRSI medal in 1994 and AP Scientist Award for the Year 2003.

He is a Life member of Asia Pacific Academy of Materials, Materials Research Society (USA), Materials Research Society of India, Magnetic Society of India, Instrument Society of India.

He strongly believes that the young students of today wake up to the hard reality and achieve the goals with noble thoughts and deeds.
